In June and July the Seminar will turn to the relationship between Marxism and Poststructuralism and their respective understanding of power and resistance, which is characterised by a conceptual passage from contradiction to differentiation. We will discuss, how Marx and Foucault irreducibly differ in the way they analyse power and social conflict. In Foucault contradiction is only one particular configuration of a power relation, in Marx the power relation is only a strategic moment of a social situation whose inner logic is determined by a law of contradiction. During the meeting on July 2nd we will discuss the concept of class and minority in the Malgre Tout-Manifesto from 1995. Key question will be how the "Malgre Tout"-Collective has conceptualized the notion of minority, concrete universality, excess, inconsistency, truth, time and restricted political action.
